Driver Privacy Policy
Applies to the OTPCabs Driver App. Operated by OTP CAB SERVICE PRIVATE LIMITED.
This Privacy Policy describes how OTP CAB SERVICE PRIVATE LIMITED ("OTPCabs", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects the personal information of drivers who use the OTPCabs Driver App to receive and complete ride requests.
This policy applies only to drivers using the OTPCabs Driver App. Customers and vendors are covered by the separate Customer Privacy Policy and Vendor Privacy Policy available on this website.
By registering as a driver or using the Driver App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information from and about drivers:
- Profile information: your name, mobile number, email address (where provided), and profile photograph.
- Identity and KYC verification information: PAN details, driving licence number and documents, and the results of identity and document verification checks.
- Vehicle information: Registration Certificate (RC) details, vehicle registration number, vehicle category, brand, model, colour, fuel type, and — where collected — insurance and permit information.
- Location information: precise GPS location, including background location where you have granted the permission, your online/offline availability status, live location during rides, and route and movement information.
- Ride activity: ride requests received, rides accepted, rejected, cancelled, and completed, and offers or bids you make on ride requests.
- Earnings and financial information: trip earnings, wallet balance and transactions, settlement records, bank account details submitted for payouts, bank verification results, and payout history.
- Device and technical information: device model, operating system, app version, push-notification identifiers, and app diagnostics and crash information.
- Support communication: messages and reports you send to driver support.
2. Location and Background Location
Location is central to how the Driver App works. Based on the permissions you grant on your device, the app collects your precise GPS location:
- While you are online and available, so nearby ride requests can be matched to you and customers can see accurate arrival estimates.
- While you travel to a pickup point, so the customer can track your arrival.
- During an active trip, to support navigation, live trip tracking, safety features, and accurate fare calculation.
- In the background — when the app is not on screen — only where you have granted the background location ("Allow all the time") permission. This keeps you connected to ride requests and keeps live trips tracked while you use other apps or your screen is off.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Verify your identity, driving licence, and vehicle documents before and during your time on the platform.
- Match you with ride requests and operate the offer/bidding system.
- Enable navigation, customer pickup, OTP-verified trip start, and trip completion.
- Calculate trip earnings, manage your wallet, and process settlements and payouts to your verified bank account.
- Keep the platform safe: fraud prevention, detection of GPS manipulation or fake trips, and investigation of complaints.
- Send you ride requests, trip updates, earnings summaries, and important account notifications.
- Improve app performance and fix crashes.
- Comply with applicable law, including motor vehicle and tax regulations.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share driver information only as needed:
- Customers: when you accept a ride, the customer sees your name, photograph, vehicle details, registration number, rating, and live location for the trip.
- Vendor or fleet partners: where you drive under a vendor or fleet partner, that partner can see your profile, documents, assignment, and trip activity relevant to their fleet.
- KYC and verification providers: to verify identity, PAN, licence, and bank details.
- Payment and banking providers: to process settlements and payouts.
- Map providers: to provide navigation and routing.
- Cloud and infrastructure providers: who host our systems under confidentiality and security obligations.
- Government and law enforcement authorities: where disclosure is required by law, court order, or to protect safety.
5. Data Retention
We retain driver records for as long as your driver account is active, and afterwards for the period required by applicable law — including tax, accounting, transport, and dispute-resolution requirements.
KYC and verification records are retained as required by applicable regulations. Location traces are retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above.
6. Data Security
We protect driver data with encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. Bank details are handled through verified payment channels. No system is completely secure; if a breach affects your data we will act in accordance with applicable law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- View and update your profile from the Driver App.
- Control device permissions — including location — from your device settings at any time. Note that without location permission the app cannot assign rides to you.
- Go offline at any time; while offline you do not receive ride requests.
- Request a copy of your data or raise privacy questions through the contact details below.
- Request deletion of your driver account through the app or by contacting support. After deletion, data is erased or anonymised except records we must keep under applicable law.
8. App Permissions
The Driver App requests the following device permissions:
- Location (including background location): required for receiving ride requests, navigation, and live trip tracking, as explained in the Location section above.
- Notifications: to alert you to ride requests and trip updates, including while the app is in the background.
- Camera and photos: to capture your profile photograph and upload documents.
- Phone (optional): to call the customer or support from the app.
9. Third-Party Services
The app relies on third-party services such as map providers, KYC and bank verification providers, payment processors, push-notification services, and crash-reporting tools. These providers process data under their own privacy policies to the extent they act as independent controllers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows the latest revision. Material changes will be notified through the app or other reasonable means. Continued use of the Driver App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
